Tech support guesses that the remote is not compatible with my LG TV. If that is the case it is a unexplainable and severe limitation of the remote's capabilities. Question. Oh wait, never mind. I performed a software update on the new TV and the DirectTV Stream app now showed up. All is well. Funny that I had to update manually -- as usually new equipment these days does a software update check first time out of the box. I find DirecTV app easy to operate.
